Abstract

Given the limitations of lacking communication Quality of Service (QoS) evaluation at power service-section according to the current bandwidth prediction method in power distribution and utilization network, a calculation method supporting the quantitative evaluation of QoS is proposed to predict the service-section communication bandwidth, which is based on queuing theory. The paper firstly analyses the QoS requirements of power distribution and utilization services under the background of Smart Grid, and shows the necessity of communication QoS evaluation in the service bandwidth prediction. Secondly, constructs the M/M/1 queuing service-section bandwidth calculation model by taking the substation service-section as an example, and clarifies the rationality of queuing theory method in the aspects of supporting the quantitative evaluation of QoS by analyzing the relationship between QoS indexes of data service and bandwidth in power distribution and utilization network. Finally under the framework of current electric power bandwidth calculation method, a calculation method based on queuing theory is proposed to predict the service-section communication bandwidth, will achieve the effective bandwidth prediction to guarantee the QoS requirements by means of considering the dynamic communication characteristics of services. By using the calculation example from the typical service-section of State Grid, the validity of the proposed method is verified through comparative analysis of elastic-coefficient-parameter bandwidth prediction method.
