Abstract

AbstractThe Hoist Scheduling Problem occurs in manufacturing industries with chemical processing, for example in electroplating production lines. The most popular production organization of the electroplating production lines is cyclic work, where a static schedule – cyclogram – is constantly repeated to produce new items. Such organization has poor flexibility in case of multi–product lines, because changing the cyclogram requires costly setup. As a solution the dynamic work is postulated, where a schedule is created online as the new items are ordered. It increases the flexibility at the cost of real–time work requirements. The paper concentrates on the issue of influence of product introduction sequence to make span. The problem complexity is analyzed. The example queue is analyzed to show the potential research area of heuristic methods, that could minimize the make span by changing the sequence of ordered items.
