Abstract

This paper presents SRGM (Software Reliability Growth Model) with the resource expenditures spent on the FDP (Fault Detection Process) and the FCP (Fault Correction Process). The DE (Detection Effort) and CE (Correction Effort) are defined as resource expenditures spent on two processes, respectively. Although a few researches have recently been devoted to the FDP and the FCP, these studies either assumed that the rate of resources consumed is constant or even do not involve resource expenditures spent on the FDP and the FCP. In fact, software reliability is highly related to the amount of development resources spent on detecting and correcting latent software faults. In this paper, an ISQ (Infinite Server Queuing) model is presented to permit a joint study of the FDP and the FCP. We propose an ISQ model with DE and CE. An actual software failure data set is analyzed to illustrate the effectiveness of proposed model. Numerical results show that new model can provide better fit and prediction.
