Abstract

Performance of cystoscopy at the time of hysterectomy provides improved detection of lower urinary tract injury (LUTI).1 The American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) recommends universal cystoscopy during pelvic reconstructive surgery,2 and since 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and National Quality Forum (NQF) have endorsed its measurement as a high priority quality measure. The role of cystoscopy at the time of hysterectomy without pelvic reconstructive surgery remains controversial.
