Abstract

Palynological analysis of 24 subsurface samples (cores) from Ordovician rocks of the Tadla Basin, western Méséta, Morocco, has permitted us to identify five chitinozoan assemblages of late Arenig, latest Arenig, early Llandeilo, early Caradoc and late Ashgill age. Two new species Laufeldochitina protolardeuxi nov. sp. and Lagenochitina spinatostoma nov. sp. are proposed in this paper. Comparison of these assemblages with contemporary assemblages from North Africa and southwestern Europe show their stratigraphic position and identifies taxon with a stratigraphic potential.
