Abstract

A first study had been carried out at the end of the preparatory course, the purpose was to check if a writing tool was preferred and to determine the influence of the position of the hand in relating to the writing line on the graphic gesture. The results highlighted the benefits of the supporting tri digital on the middle finger but also the position of the hand under the handline: there was less pressure on the pen, digital motor skills were facilitated easier and the speed was higher. However, less than six percent of the children tested had this type of use of writing tool. The aim of this new study was to test whether the installation of tools that promote digital capture, but also, the untying of the fingers and a visual marker for the position of the hand in relation to the line of writing, would facilitate the graphic gesture. These elements were established in four pilot classes in September. The results showed a significant benefit of the control group on fine motorization and gesture control. However, the number of children who place their hands under the line of writing remains too small even if it might still be improved.
