Abstract

Scientific progress in genetics, neuroscience and cognitive psychology establish more and more, and with an increasing degree of certainty, causal links between genetic variants, neural properties and cognitive characteristics of the individual, whether normal or pathological. After a brief review of these advances, we discuss the predictive power of genetic and neural information, and the ethical problems that may follow, in the areas of disease prevention, embryo selection, and for the question of free will and responsibility.
