Abstract

The bathymetry and distribution of superficial sediments of the sea floor off the north Yorkshire coast are outlined. The bathymetric features are interpreted as remnants of a pre-Weichsel (?Saale) subaerial drainage pattern which has been modified and partially obscured by Weichsel till and Holocene sand deposits. A minimum ?Saale low sea-level stand of −330 ft. (−100 m) is postulated.
