Abstract

Earlier published data on eustatic sea-level fluctuations are used to construct a new eustatic sea-level curve for the Quaternary period. By introducing the local uplift trend, this curve is made valid for the Leeward Netherlands Antilles. The resulting new curve fits surprisingly well with local geomorphologic and petrologic features. The ages of two younger coastal terraces had already been defined by using absolute dating methods. The ages of two older ones are estimated, applying the newly presented sea-level curve.
