Abstract
Three 8-(dialkylaminoalkoxy)-caffeines were prepared by reacting the appropriate sodium dialkylamino alcoholate with 8-chlorocaffeine. Nine quaternary salts were prepared from the above three compounds by reacting each with methyl iodide, ethyl iodide, and benzyl chloride. The melting points and nitrogen content of each compound was determined. The quaternary compounds are to be evaluated for therapeutic activity along with quaternary compounds now being synthesized.
