N. Abstract A coronal flow model that reduces to the quasi-static loop model for small velocities is developed. The literature on the theory of coronal loops is first reviewed, and the loop flow model is described. The model equations are discussed, and the behavior in the limits of strong evaporation and condensation is analyzed. A dynamic loop scaling law, applicable to loops with flows, is developed, and the results of numerical studies of the scaling law are presented and discussed. Flows through loops from one footpoint to the other, driven by asymmetric heating on asymmetric loop cross-sectional area, are examined. Analytic results for small flow rates are compared with numerical solutions of the nonlinear equations, and observational consequences are discussed.
