Abstract

High and low frequency satellites of the first transition group elements are explained on the basis of Hayasi's theory of quasi-stationary states using the data for the EXAFS at the K-edge of these elements. The calculated wavelengths for the satellites are in good agreement with experimental results and are compared with the values calculated from multiple ionisation theory. The present study reveals that the same QSS difference gives rise to a particular satellite of either type in all the elements.
