Abstract

This paper proposes a simplified method for analysing transduction in SAW transducers, for the case where reflections are mainly due to mechanical effects. The method is based on quasi-static theory, and it is illustrated by application to surface transverse waves (STWs). Fitting the results to the coupled-mode (COM) equations, it is shown that the dispersion curve is in reasonable agreement. The transduction parameter has a relative phase which appears to indicate unidirectionality. However, this is probably because the COM equations are inadequate for the STW case.
