Abstract
Basic features of quasiperiodic grain boundaries in nanocrystalline and polycrystalline solids are discussed. It is shown that quasiperiodic boundaries can serve as effective sources and sinks of lattice dislocations in nanocrystals. The special strengthening effect in deformed nanocrystalline and polycrystalline solids is considered which is related to presence of quasiperiodic boundaries in such solids.
