Abstract
A property well known as the first law of black holes is a relationamong infinitesimal variations of parameters of stationary blackholes. We consider a dynamical version of the first law, which may becalled the first law of black hole dynamics. The first law of blackhole dynamics is derived without assuming any symmetry or anyasymptotic conditions. In the derivation, a definition of dynamicalsurface gravity is proposed. In spherical symmetry it reduces to thatdefined recently by one of the authors (SAH).
