Abstract

An existence-uniqueness theorem and a regularity theorem are given for the Cauchy problem for quasi-linear equations of evolution in nonreflexive Banach spaces. As an application, C1-solutions are constructed for hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations in the “Schauder canonical form” (which include generic equations in two independent variables.).
