Abstract

The paper presents a quasidynamic approach to emergency state analysis, identification and control of power system frequency perturbations. A quasidynamic model is derived by simplifying the conventional long-term dynamics model of power systems in the time interval 0–5 s. The quasidynamic model is algebraic in nature, but the time variable t is incorporated into the model and is used to describe the part of the system dynamics that is of interest in the specified time interval. The paper proposes an on-line computer emergency control strategy based on the above quasidynamic model. Finally, a numerical example is given for the Yugoslav power system.
