Abstract

The Andreev reflection in a proximity-contact normal-superconducting (N-S) metal system in the clean limit is discussed within the quasi-classical (WKBJ) approximation. The reflection coefficient R for the electrons at the Fermi level in the normal state is introduced to charaterize the interface. We obtain a self-vonsistent pair function which is depressed near the interface due to the proximity effect and discuss the Andreev reflection. We find that there is a general relationship between the Andreev reflection intensity and the local density of states of the superconductor just at the interface. The R dependence of the Andreev reflection is studied.
