Abstract

A quasi-Yagi antenna with opposite radiation patterns at two working bands is proposed in this letter. By adding split-ring resonators (SRRs) into a quasi-Yagi antenna that only has a reflector and a dipole originally, the other resonant point is generated. New antenna with two SRRs placed near the reflector can realize a + z-direction radiation at 2.11 GHz and - z-direction radiation at 2.30 GHz in practical measurement. The maximum gains 5.25 and 4.13 dB are fulfilled, respectively. Electric field and current distribution were studied to demonstrate the cause of opposite radiation direction in the new band.
