Abstract
A numerical synthesis procedure for surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices has been adapted for microwave delay-line filters. The effect of multiple reflections between taps is fully allowed for, and almost arbitrary phase and amplitude responses can be specified; linear chirp filters are reported. Modification of the SAW version has eliminated the third harmonic and thus permitted fractional bandwidths exceeding 100% to be demonstrated.
