Abstract

We report the study of reflection and transmission coefficients, when a S-polarized electromagnetic wave is used to excite a linear dielectric NID–nonlinear dielectric NID planar interface. Nonlinear medium in our study is of second harmonic generation type hence we only studied the second order reflectivity and transmittance characteristics. Wave propagation in NID mediums are modeled by using method of separation of variables in NID space and the solution of the nonlinear wave equation is obtained by using the quasi phase matching approximation. As a special case of the original geometry we also studied the changes in the behavior of the coefficients when EN–NID and MN–NID mediums are taken as reflected mediums. In all these cases impact of the non-linearity and noninteger dimensions are noted separately. We also report the specific ranges of the permittivities and permeability in which maximum amplitude of the coefficients can be achieved.
