Abstract
We discuss certain “left-right” symmetric QCD-like supersymmetric preon models which provide light composite fermions through a Goldstone mechanism (quasi-Goldstone fermions). The importance of complex extended symmetries of the superpotential is emphasized. In addition, we discuss mechanisms for supersymmetry breaking and mass generation.
