Abstract

The cross-section for the reaction C 12(p, 2p)B 11 is calculated for events in which the residual nucleus is in its ground state. The direct interaction model is used, the reaction being considered in the impulse approximation as quasi-elastic scattering. Both WKB- and Born- approximation calculations predict the general features of the reaction fairly well, confirming the validity of the above picture. The most important features to be taken into account in a more detailed calculation are investigated.
