Abstract

We have used a quasi-deuteron model to calculate antinucleon annihilation cross sections on nuclei. Our model fits the existing data for different nuclei from 12 C to 63 Cu at p Lab > 400 MeV /c. We have deduced that the interaction distance between the two nucleons participating in the annihilation process is about 0.8 fm; this small value indicates that the annihilation, at p Lab > 400 MeV /c, could involve the incoming antinucleon and a six-quark bag.
