Quark masses, charged current mixing angles, and CP-violation

Abstract

A simple structure of the charged fermion mass matrix is suggested, motivated in part by grand unified theories. The relations obtained predict a very small b → u matrix element, a B meson life time τ B ≳ 5 × 10 −13s, a range of values for the top quark mass, and a CP-violating phase angle sin δ′ ⋍ 1 .
