Abstract
Starting from a nonlinear quark Lagrangian with global colourSU(N)-and approximate flavourSU(4)f-symmetry we derive an effective compositemeson Lagrangian in the 1/N expansion. We estimate bare (current) and total (constituent) quark masses, quark condensate matrix elements as well as masses, coupling and decay constants of pseudoscalar mesons.
