Abstract

AbstractApplications of the mathematical apparatus of quantum theory to decision making, economics, and finances should be accommodated with the foundations of this theory. Quantum nonlocality (spooky action at a distance) is one of the most exiting features of modern quantum theory. This is one of the main challenges in justification of applications of the quantum formalism to humans. May be consideration of spooky action at a distance is acceptable for micro-systems, say photons. However, it is difficult to imagine such spooky action for humans. The aim of this note is demystification of quantum nonlocality via coupling of the “nonlocal structure” of the Lüders’ projection postulate with probabilistic conditioning. The role of the quantum state interpretation, statistical versus individual, is emphasized. By using the statistical interpretation for the Lüders’ state update, we are able to work with entangled states without appealing to the ambiguous notion of quantum nonlocality.KeywordsDemystification of quantum nonlocalitySpooky action at a distanceQuantum state updateProjection postulate
