Abstract

1 ! a method of calculating the energy levels of trapped electrons in ionic crystals was developed. This method was based on a many­ body formulation which included the phonon field, and detailed calculations for the F center were given. The present paper summarizes the results of applying this method to the Jt~ + center in an ionic crystal. The F 2+ center is a system consisting of two negative ion vacancies (an anion vacancy pair) and an electron in an ionic crystal.
