Quantum-mechanical mean of the ejected-electron energy in strong-field ionization.

Abstract

A useful criterion for atomic ionization in classical mechanics is the ``compensated energy,'' which temporally evolves from the negative initial binding energy to a stationary positive value as the electron is ejected. Herein we give the quantum-mechanical analog of this quantity.
