Abstract

We present the modeling of an active nonlinear source designed for spontaneous parametric down-conversion in an AlGaAs waveguide. Electrically pumped InAs Quantum Dots embedded in the waveguide core provide the gain necessary for the lasing of a second-order pump mode at about 980nm, which in turns generates two cross-polarized fundamental signal and idler modes with wavelengths around 1960nm. We numerically evaluate the source efficiency and highlight the advantages provided by our choice of active medium for the fabrication of the device.
