Abstract

Quantum properties of Josephson junctions and granular superconductors are considered. We investigate quantum fluctuations and coherent effects in small tunnel junctions with both linear Ohmic and quasiparticle (“cosine”) dissipation. Localization phase transitions in these junctions are also discussed. We study the phase diagram of Josephson junction arrays and granular superconductors and show that both long-range and local quantum fluctuations may provide the destruction of global phase coherence. The effect of disorder is also investigated.
