Abstract
AbstractWhen the electromagnetic field method is used in analyses of tapered waveguides, solutions can be obtained with the same degree of accuracy inside or outside the cutoff regime. If the length of a taper is of the order of, or more than, the wavelength, we need to consider only the fundamental mode in practice. However, we cannot neglect the influence of higher‐order modes if the length is shorter than the wavelength. We must examine the quantities of higher‐order mode generations.
