Abstract

A set of instrumental and digital signal processing techniques (Fourier self-deconvolution and the maximum entropy method) was adopted to detect and treat low-signal-level UV resonance Raman spectra of biological molecules and supramolecular complexes. The applicability of the methods for analysis of ATP binding in the active site of Na+,K+-ATPase, as well as for investigation of aromatic amino acids involved in the functioning of bacterial and visual rhodopsins, is demonstrated.
