Abstract

Global research in landscape architecture demonstrates the perceived safety in parks. This article used Al-Azhar Park, Cairo, Egypt, as a case study to determine the type of prospect that most promotes users' perception of safety. Given that prospects-refuge makes perceived safety perform better, this research focuses on 20 types of prospects concerning the eight factors of perceived safety. Using multi-choice surveys, the results from IBM Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) statistics showed that the types of prospects are essential factors in creating parks' safety. The concluded replicable remarks highlighted that the panoramic views are the most preferred and perceived safety among other prospect types, especially the actual simple panorama and the open interrupted panorama. Future studies could develop those prospect types through qualitative analysis and other parks.
