Abstract

Nonuniformities of the modulation field and the radio frequency field alter the cw saturation behavior of inhomogeneously broadened ESR lines. The effects are considered both theoretically and experimentally for samples of different lengths for common microwave geometries. Depending on the combination of variables, P 1 2 the power at which the signal level is half as great as it would be had no saturation occurred, can be as much as 1.8 times higher than would be the case for homogeneous fields.
