Abstract

The research of soil erosion mainly focuses on the soil erosion models. Through studying and analyzing the process of soil erosion, the soil erosion models are established The erosion models are divided into two kinds: one is experience statistical model, the other is physical process model. At present, the technology of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) are imported into the research of soil erosion model. On the base of discussing the main characters of soil erosion modes, the authors present the quantitative RS investigation in virtue of technology of the earth surface system simulation and quantitative RS analysis. According to the difference of the relief, terrain and drainage areas, the whole region is divided into small typical investigation areas. Through the quantitative RS to obtain the soil erosion factor, for example hydrological factor, vegetation factor, terrain factor and soil classification factor, and to build the soil erosion model for each kind of typical area. We split the whole region into regular grids in which the soil erosion is considered uniform and calculate the modulus and quantity of soil erosion of each grid. At last, the results of soil erosion in whole region are collected. This method has much requirement for the data of observation and simulation and need the support of the distributed hydrological models, Earth Observation System, earth system simulation and Land Data Assimilation Systems. Many difficulties have to be discussed further, for example: the suitable size of geo-grid, scale transfer from the micro area to macro area and so on.
