Abstract

The photoabsorption and fluorescence cross sections of GeH4 were measured in the 50-200 nm region using synchrotron radiation as a light source. The fluorescence spectra were dispersed and used to identify the emitters as excited Ge and GeH. Weak vibrational structure superimposed on the absorption continuum was observed in the 70-80 and 105-115 nm regions. The assignment of the observed absorption bands to Rydberg transitions is discussed.
