With use of a unique dual collimator system designed with depth-independent response throughout a scattering medium, in vivo organ activity can be evaluated to within ±9%. The system also allows for correction for active tissue backgrounds. The method was applied to quantitative assessment of splenic function on the basis of in vivo activity determination in 2 clinical cases in which splenectomy permitted an independent check.Article HistoryPublished in print: Feb 1972 FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByACS Symposium SeriesJamesEconomy, ZebaParkar2011 | , Vol. 1080Validation of transport measurements in skeletal muscle with N-13 amino acids using a rabbit isolated hindlimb modelK.C.Conlon, J.R.Bading, G.R.DiResta, M.T.Corbally, A.S.Gelbard, M.F.Brennan1989 | Life Sciences, Vol. 44, No. 13Quantitative SPECT in radiation dosimetryPat B.Zanzonico, Rodney E.Bigler, GeorgeSgouros, AnnStrauss1989 | Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, Vol. 19, No. 1Techniques for Measuring Red Cell, Platelet, and WBC SurvivalKlausMayer, Jeffrey E.Freeman, MyronPollycove1986 | CRC Critical Reviews in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Vol. 23, No. 3Quantitative measurement of activity in small sources containing medium energy radionuclides: comparison of the gamma camera and the rectilinear scannerL.
