Abstract

Summary The anti-A lectins of Dolichos biflorus, Sieva lima beans and the snail, Otala lactea have been compared in a sensitive and reproducible quantitative hemagglutination technique using a Coulter electronic particle counter model B. The HD50 and slopes were noted for differentiation between the lectins. A sharp specificity of Dolichos biflorus was plainly evident. The snail extract seemed to be a specific anti-A lectin with the widest range of reactivity for the different subgroups of A and AB.
