Abstract

A quantitative determination method using direct spectrophotometry at 282 nm was developed for total flavonoids in blood-red hawthorn fruit (Crataegus sanguinea Pall., Rosaceae) recalculated as catechin and could determine the target reduced flavonoids, i.e., catechins. The error of a single determination of total flavonoids in blood-red hawthorn fruit was ±2.52% at 95% confidence probability. The contents of total flavonoids in hawthorn fruit recalculated as catechin varied from 2.82 ± 0.07 to 7.05 ± 0.18%.
