Abstract

The concentration of environmental estrogens of the effluent from three municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) (Jiangxinzhou WWTP, Chengbei WWTP, Suojincun WWTP) in Nanjing was investigated. The water samples were enriched by solid phase extraction and then eluted with different polar solvent, which gave eleven fractionated extracts. The results of chemical analysis to the effluent extracts by GC-FID show that E1, E2 and BPA were detected in all effluent from the three WWTPs, and they were presented in concentrations ranging from 24.63 to 37.04 ng/L, from 6.08 to 8.04 ng/L, and from 12.08 to 64.3 ng/L, respectively. But only were OP and NP detected in the effluent from the Jiangxinzhou WWTP and Chengbei WWTP, and the concentrations of them ranged from 60.63 to 117.14 ng/L and from 475.97 to 1141.5 ng/L, respectively. Furthermore, no EE2 was detected in any of the samples.
