Abstract

On-demand broadcast is an effective data dissemination approach in mobile computing environments. Previous studies on on-demand broadcast were under the assumption that each client requests only one data item at a time. This assumption may not be practical for the increasingly sophisticated mobile applications. In this paper, we focus on multi-item requests. We analyze the request overlapping characteristic of multi-item requests intensively. We observe that request overlapping is an important factor to be considered in scheduling multi-item requests in on-demand broadcast environments.
