Abstract
Performance and reliability of micro inverter in photovoltaics (PV) is most important to increase the life span of PV which also reduces its cost and maintenance. In this paper, detailed comparative analysis of various design cases of PV micro inverter have been given. The comparison is made in terms of voltage, current and total harmonic distortion (THD) by considering partial and full irradiance. The four cases have been categorized and investigated as single level, multilevel and cascaded system by Using MATLAB as a tool. Results reveal that partial shading does increase the harmonics with cascaded inverters; however the impact is limited as compared to single level micro inverter. The overall THD of cases and current, voltages increases under partial shading but remains within defined IEEE limits.
