Abstract

Nonconformity of calculated and experimental data for porous material impregnation rate, and the effect of porosity on heat resistance, etc., are noted. This nonconformity cannot be explained by errors of calculation or experimental data. In this work the pore structure of porous ceramic with a membrane coating is studied using quantitative analysis of images in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with the aim of obtaining its quantitative indices, pore shape, pore shape distribution, pore sinuosity factor, etc. It is shown that on the basis of numerical values obtained for material pore structure intentional design of a material structure required for each specific object is possible.
