Abstract
AbstractThis paper discusses the approaches to assess system complexity, and in turn the need for Systems Engineering (SE) implementation. The extent of SE implementation which is optimal for an organization is a function of multiple parameters. The effect of these parameters is discussed by taking few examples. The paper also proposes a methodology to measure the SE maturity of an organization which will help to monitor its progress in terms of direction and speed. The last section also discusses on the importance of change management in any such large scale process change and how to achieve it effectively. The authors believe that the availability of such comprehensive toolset for SE assessment will equally benefit the organizations which are yet to embark on the journey of systems engineering and the ones which are in the mid‐way and re‐evaluating their approach.
