D. ; Christensen, R. B. Abstract Fully quantal calculations are presented for the cross sections for C + + H C +2 + H + and N+3 + H N+2 + H+ at energies between 0.001 and 4 eV. At energies above 0.01 eV these cross sections are in striking agreement with those obtained from the Landau-Zener approximation. Rate coefficients are determined for temperatures above 30 K and below 30,000 K. A computational simplification in solving the scattering problem is noted.
