Patton, DDS Purpose/Question The purpose was to determine the utility of a hand-held device measuring direct fluorescence visualization (FV) used by trained community dental practitioners as an aid in decision-making during clinical evaluation for cancer and other oral lesions and to test the hypothesis that FV is useful in facilitating the clinical decision to refer forward suspect lesions.
