Abstract

Introduction: Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung disorder with significant health impact. Despite the fact that its prevalence is increasing & is an important cause of morbidity, little is known about its effect on quality of life (QOL). QOL-B is the first disease specific, patient reported outcome measure validated to assess QOL in NCFB. Aims: To study the predictors of QOL in NCFB and its correlation with other outcome parameters. Methodology:44 patients with stable NCFB were taken. MMRC, BMI, 6MWD, CRP, FEV1 obtained. QOL was assessed by QOL-B questionnaire. statistical analysis was done by STATA11.2(college station TX USA). Results: Significant correlation was found between 6MWD & all domains of QOL (p Conclusion: Above results highlights the impact of exercise capacity on QOL in NCFB. This suggests that ability to carry out routine work has a deep impact on psyche and socio-physical wellbeing of the patient and management of NCFB should include measures to improve the exercise capacity of patient. Also major part of treatment burden is related to airflow obstruction,, therefore every measure should be taken to preserve the lung function early in course of disease.
