Abstract
By reaction of sodium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide with ZnCl2, CdI2 and HgBr2, respectively, the monomeric, volatile silylamides [(CH3)3Si]2NMN[Si(CH3)3]2 (M= Zn, Cd, Hg) are formed. Their physical and chemical properties are reported. From IR and Raman data, force constants were calculated which show that the MN bond is a covalent single bond and, supported by PMR results, suggest that the SiN bond is of increased order.
