Abstract

Ball-bearing steel ShKhl5 is made in a 50-ton arc furnace at the "Dneprospetsstal'" plant and teemed into these molds using an ash~raphite mixture. Five kg of this mixture are used per ton of steel. Equal parts of each heat are teemed into 4.2and 2.8-ton ingots, with the molds for both types of ingots being placed on the same train of mold cars. The top of the mold is lined with heat-insulating inserts.
